The Marlins recalled RHP Chris Hatcher from AA Jacksonville today. From Joe Capozzi:
Hatcher will be the first catcher-turned-pitcher in the majors since Art Doll of the Boston Braves. When life gives you a surplus of middling receivers, make middle relievers...
Art, nicknamed "Moose," made his debut in 1935 and played three games as a catcher. He returned in 1936 and lost his only start as a pitcher. He made three more appearances in 1938, all in relief.

Greetings from Chile, guys.
As a pitcher, his numbers are pretty good: 2-1, 2.31 ERA / 15 BB and 39 SO in 35 IP (30 GP). He does strike batters out, but also walks a fair share of them.
Although I wish Hatcher the very best, a player's Minor League numbers don't always carry over to the Majors.
Regardless of that, it should be very interesting to see him pitch against major leaguers.
