Week In Review

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Overview: Hanley Ramirez finished 2nd in the Home Run Derby. The National League won the All-Star game for the first time since 1996. The Marlins took two out of three from the Nationals this weekend.
Positives: The pitching has been great and surprisingly the bullpen is a big part of that. The trio of Veras-Henlsey-Nunez went scoreless for innings 7-9 on back to back days. Alex Sanabia recorded his first major league win throwing 5 1/3 shutout innings despite being on an 80-pitch limit.
Negatives: The offense has been ice cold. Only three runs were scored on the weekend. Also, Chris Coghlan tweaked his back and is expected to miss at least few days which means we'll be seeing more Emilio Bonifacio.
Line of the Week: The combined stats of the bullpen from Saturday and Sunday's shutouts.

6 2/3 IP, 0 R, 9 K, 0 BB

Highlight of the Week: Tip of the cap to a sweet strike'em-out-throw'em-out double play and a nice catch by Coghlan, but why don't we take another look at Josh Johnson's two perfect innings in the All-Star game.
Looking Ahead: The homestand continues with four games against the Rockies and three against the Braves.
